Marija graduated at the Economics Faculty in Split. She also attended numerous specialised seminars in the field of financial management, marketing and public relations. She gained many years of experience managing finances and accounting as Director of the Croatian Information Centre - the leading Croatian institution that informed the Croatian Diaspora during the 1990s.

She was the accounting manager for the Potomac company – the owner of the CROATA fashion brand.

During her career she advised many companies in financial management, accounting and controlling, and influenced the efficiency of their businesses, financial savings and ensured that their operations were completely aligned with legislation and regulations.

She commenced her career at Šujica Drvna industrija, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she worked as the chief bookkeeper and accounting manager.
