At the ceremony held today in The Regent Esplanade Zagreb hotel, the organization Donacije.info has presented acknowledgments to companies whose donation projects it deemed best in the previous year. The objective of the Holcim program is to strengthen the civil society sector so that it could, along with the business sector, participate in the development of public policies that contribute to sustainable development. Holcim (Croatia) has stood out for cooperating with the local community and for its long-term, structured approach, which is the reason why it received many points according to criteria of organizational capacities, as well as effectiveness, efficiency and monitoring results.
Cemex project is the project of employees and the association Golubice, which organizes gatherings, workshops and excursions for orphans in children's homes or without appropriate parental care. Employees and management have collected funds to send 20 children on winter vacations. Cemex Croatia received many points according to criteria of organizational capacities, as well as effectiveness, efficiency and monitoring results. It achieved above average results according to the criteria of innovation and of the relative size of the donation.
"It brings us great satisfaction that an ever larger number of companies compete for this award every year, which is evidence that, even during these trying times, they find the time for good projects and for investing in the community in which they are active. I'm convinced that it is precisely the kinds of projects that were awarded today that are the foundation of society as a whole, therefore, we have created a system of rewards for companies that do this the best. I believe that granting such an award and the recognition of the wider society will be a good incentive to all companies that have yet to take this step", emphasized Nenad Bakić, secretary general of Donacije.info.
This year's awards were expanded to include a survey, which has resulted in the publication entitled "Donation Practices in Croatia", portraying the current practice of donating in smaller and larger companies in Croatia, and through real examples deals with the organizational capacities dedicated to donation programs, the efficiency of donating, areas for investment, as well as various donation concepts and their sustainability. The publication is available at www.donacije.info, which is also the central location for philanthropy in Croatia.
